Our hunting courses for women in NZ are designed to give women the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to get started in hunting — without feeling like you should already know what you’re doing.
Whether you've never held a firearm, have been hunting with someone else but want to become more independent, or you're ready to take the next step in your hunting journey, there is a place for you here.
No judgement. No silly questions. No expectation that you already know.

Everyone starts somewhere.
Maybe you didn't grow up in a hunting family. Maybe your partner hunts but you've always been the one following along. Maybe you've never been hunting at all but something about it has always made you curious.
You don't need to know the terminology.
You don't need to own all the gear.
And you definitely don't need to pretend you know more than you do.
Our women's hunting courses are about giving you a safe, supportive environment to ask questions, practise skills and build confidence at your own pace.
Because becoming capable in the outdoors doesn't happen by watching someone else do everything for you.
It happens when you're given the opportunity to have a go yourself.
What You'll Learn
Our courses are hands-on and designed around the skills that help you become a safer, more confident and capable hunter.
Depending on the course you choose, you'll learn about:
Firearms confidence & safety
Become comfortable around firearms, understand safe handling and build confidence through practical learning.
Bush skills
Learn the fundamentals that help you feel more capable when heading into the New Zealand outdoors.
Navigation
Start understanding maps, navigation and how to make good decisions in the bush.
Animal identification
Learn about New Zealand game animals, how to identify them and the role hunting plays in conservation and pest management.
Field skills
Understand what happens before, during and after a hunt — not just pulling the trigger.
Butchery & meat care
Learn what happens once an animal is harvested and how to turn wild game into incredible food.
Ethical hunting
Develop an understanding of responsible hunting, shot placement, animal welfare and respecting the resource.
You don't have to learn everything at once.
The goal is simple:

Start Here: Hunting 101
Curious about hunting but not quite ready to commit to an entire weekend?
Start with
Hunting 101 - an easy 2-hour informative evening to build the foundational knowledge of hunting.
This introductory session is designed for women who want to understand how hunting works in New Zealand and get answers to all those questions that can feel difficult to ask when you're completely new.
We'll talk through the basics, including firearms licensing, getting started, hunting opportunities, gear, safety and what your first steps into hunting could actually look like.
There is no expectation that you know anything before you arrive.
Come curious.
Leave knowing where to start.

Introduction to Hunting Weekend
Ready to properly immerse yourself?
Our Introduction to Hunting Weekend is our signature beginner hunting course in New Zealand.
It's an entire weekend created to take away the mystery around hunting and give you practical experience alongside other women who are learning too.
You'll build knowledge around firearms, safety, navigation, bushcraft, game animals, hunting ethics and field skills — with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practise what you're learning.
And here's something important:
The purpose of your first weekend isn't to shoot an animal.
The purpose is to build the foundation that can eventually allow you to head into the outdoors feeling informed, responsible and capable.
For many of our Chix, the biggest thing they leave with isn't a new hunting skill.
It's confidence.
Confidence to ask.
Confidence to try.
Confidence to make decisions.
And confidence to take the next step.

Getting the animal is only part of the journey.
The Butcher's Workshop takes you through the next stage — understanding how to process wild game and turn it into food for your freezer and your table.
