On Friday morning a group of women who are involved in marine, maritime, engineering and composite careers got together at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for the first time to celebrate the unique part that women have in our industries.
I was fortunate enough to sit on the panel amongst 3 other incredible women, to chat about female challenges in the Marine sector. We discussed the difficulties of proving our competence over being judged by looks and gender as well as created a bond to encourage each other to step up, do what we love, deserve respect and being treated equally as well as ways on how to teach our children the right paths forward.
It was a great experience, and I want to thank the "A-Team" for pulling a great event together and I am excited to join future ones like that to speak up for women in male dominated industries.
