Another amazing blog post from Lisa, who has attended Fishing Basics, Boating Basics as well as our Boating Boot Camp and surely becoming a full on Wild Chick! Thanks so much Lisa for your feedback and your report on what you got out of learning with Wild Chix so far :)

The tides are turning in the world of boating and fishing, and it's about time. Last week, I had the privilege of attending the 'Boating Basics' event organised by Isabell and Shanel of WILD CHIX.
This event, held exclusively by women for women, aimed to provide essential boating skills while empowering women to navigate and excel in a field often considered a male-dominated space.
The result? An inspiring and educational experience for all the ladies involved. It was fantastic to meet other women keen to learn—from newbies starting out to seasoned boaters whose partners typically take the lead, to single women eager to get boating and fishing. The event created a safe space for asking questions without judgment, which was incredibly refreshing. It was also impressive to see the depth of skills and knowledge Isabell and Shanel brought to the table. Many of us have been around men and boating for much of our lives, but taking responsibility ourselves—ensuring everything is working and safe, and feeling capable and confident on the water—is a different matter entirely. This event emphasized the importance of knowing your stuff and having the confidence to taking the helm, and we don’t have to rely on a man to do it.
I was fortunate to attend the ‘Boating Boot Camp’ the following day, which offered hands-on practical experience in boating and trailering. Previously, I had attended the ‘Fishing Basics’ workshop. Both sessions were incredibly valuable. I not only learned new skills but also reconfirmed that much of what I already knew was on track.
A huge thank you to the WILD CHIX team! I look forward to attending more advanced sessions in the future.
Here’s to more women at the helm—both literally and figuratively!
